Chief Compliance & Investment Officer
Md. Tanvir Islam is a seasoned investment professional with over 14 years of experience across asset management, capital markets, equity research, and development finance. He currently serves as the Chief Investment Officer at Sandhani Asset Management Limited, where he leads the firm’s overall investment strategy and fund-management operations.
Previously, he worked as an Associate Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, where he was involved in business development, credit and integrity risk assessment, deal structuring, and financial modeling for private-sector investments in emerging markets.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Tanvir spent several years as a Manager & Research Analyst at City Brokerage Limited, one of Bangladesh’s leading brokerage houses. As a sell-side analyst, he covered multiple key sectors representing nearly 40% of the Dhaka Stock Exchange’s market capitalization, actively advising local and foreign institutional investors. His research-driven recommendations contributed to significant institutional trading volumes and strong portfolio returns.
He has also held research and investment roles at International Leasing Securities Limited, Sandhani Life Finance Limited, and Saudi Bangladesh Industrial and Agricultural Investment Company Limited (SABINCO), gaining hands-on experience in equity valuation, compliance reporting, and financial sector supervision.
Mr. Tanvir passed Level II of CFA Program. He holds both BBA and MBA in Finance from the University of Dhaka. He has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Banking & Finance. Alongside his professional role, Mr. Tanvir is actively engaged in academia and industry development—serving as an Adjunct Faculty member at City University.
